I'm planning to travel for a two-week visitor visa in December 2024 and am currently applying for an online visitor visa.
The latest information suggests that a visitor visa requires translation of documents such as a National ID card (KTP) and Family Card (KK). This seems a bit overkill for short-stay visitor visas, although it's quite common for long-stay or working visa arrangements. The Schengen or Australia visas I'm applying for don't require this.

I'd like to check with Mr. Saputra to see if there's any updated information from friends applying for the June-August 2024 period regarding whether translation of their KTP and Family Cards is required? Or are there any rejections or requests for additional translation if the online upload doesn't include the translation?

Hi @ryleybob,

For a New Zealand Visitor Visa, the document rules are quite clear:

🔍 Translation Requirements

  • Any supporting documents not in English must be translated into English.
  • Examples: KTP (Indonesian ID card) and KK (Family Card) if you’re using them as proof of identity or family relationship.
  • You don’t need a certified translation for Visitor Visas, except for specific documents like a medical certificate or police certificate.

⚠️ Risk if You Don’t Translate

  • If you upload documents in Indonesian without translation, Immigration NZ may request additional documents → this can slow down your application.
  • It’s safer to prepare a simple translation upfront so the process runs more smoothly.

📌 Conclusion

  • Yes, KTP & KK should still be translated, even for a short-stay Visitor Visa.
  • They don’t need to be sworn translations, as long as they are clear and accurate.
  • This reduces the chance of delays and makes approval smoother.

Hope that clears it up! Based on recent experiences, most applicants do upload translations of their KTP/KK. Feel free to ask again if there’s anything still unclear. Cheers! 🥂
