Experience to live in an ancient 1841 house: Acacia Cottage


In this video, we take a walk in Cornwall Park, then try to enter Acacia Cottage, an ancient house that was built in 1841. The condition and contents of this house are preserved in such a way that we can enter and experience directly, how is the atmosphere of living in it.

Acacia Cottage was founded on Shortland Street in 1841. The wood was obtained from Whangaroa and brought to Auckland and landed on the beach which is now Fort Street.

Built by Mr. William Brown and Dr. John Logan Campbell then occupied for many years. Then occupied continuously by the owner of the Brown Campbell Co shop until 1920 then moved to Cornwall Park.
